1Chron 17-19 God blesses David

Outfrom the sheepfolds into royalty came David. He is now king of Israel and all is well with the world or so it seems. There is a pause in his nation from the advance of war and God listens to his desire to leave a lasting legacy to God for all He has done. The prophet Nathan listens and concurs with David to build a house for God but David is a man of war. God tells Nathan of His plans for not just David but also his legacy. His son will build the house, not David. If God had told you “no” to your ideas, how would you respond? David went in before the Lord and prayed thanking God for His plan for it is better than David could ever imagine. Sometimes a “no” answer is the best answer and that is true for us as well.

David sat before the Lord and poured out his heart thanking God for his “no” answer. He humbly submitted to God’s plan and that is a lesson for us when we too hear a “no” answer. Remember the words of Isaiah in chapter 55: “Indeed, my plans are not like your plans, and my deeds are not like your deeds,” says the Lord, “for just as the sky is higher than the earth, so my deeds are superior to your deeds and my plans superior to your plans.”

What “no”answer have you received from the Lord and will you take time to sit before Him and thank Him?
