God’s Glory

Sharing the gospel message

For Aug 26th: Ezekiel 1-4 God’s Glory

Way back in Exodus, we read that Moses asked God to reveal to him his glory. God replied: “You cannot see my face, for no one can see me and live.” [Exod. 33:20] Ezekiel did not ask, but God revealed His glory complete with an intense out-of-this-world view! He saw creatures that had four faces, wings, and odd feet propelled by wheels that rolled but did not turn. He fell upon his face, but the Spirit took him and raised him up. Then Ezekiel heard that just as He sent Moses to a people whose hearts were hard, so Ezekiel would be sent with the message: “thus says the Lord.”

Both men had the same message, and we have it as well. The Lord uses as His instruments of judgment, truth, and compassion. Jesus said to his disciples: “go into all the world and make disciples…baptize them…teach them” and “I am with you always even to the end of the age.” [Matt 28:20]

Moses went and obeyed, as did Ezekiel. God told Ezekiel He would hold him accountable for the lives he encountered, and He does the same for us. As He told Moses, He told Ezekiel, “you shall speak My words to them whether they listen or not.” [Ezek 2:7] To whom has God called you to speak, and are you doing it?
