Are you a stumbling block?

Same old same old

Matt16 Stumbling blocks

Listen to Jesus: But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me because you are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but on man’s.” Matt 16:23

I wonder how often I am a stumbling block by what I say, what I think, what I do. What does it mean to be a stumbling block? It is something that is put as an obstacle to success or correct movement. Peter, in this case, was just that because God called Jesus to be the Lamb of God to take away the sins of the world. To accomplish that Jesus had to face circumstances that would challenge his faithfulness and steadfastness to the task at hand. How often do we find ourselves keeping another from succeeding because we think our way is best and are not thinking about what God wants.

Today be not a stumbling block. Instead follow these words from Philippians: Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of respect, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if something is excellent or praiseworthy, think about these things. [Phil. 4:8]
