Prayer’s Power

The prayer of the righteous

Psalm 140 The Righteous Pray

One of the things most lacking in Christians today is the lack of discernment regarding the wicked. We see it, we talk about it, and wring our hands over it. But it is the psalmist who succinctly lays out their plans point by point and he does so in his prayer against them.

Lord, these wicked are violent, planning ways to harm men, and stirring up conflict not once but are consumed with it all day long! Their tongues are like the deadly serpent seeking to wound, and their venom is poison. Listen to the news and you will see it in spades. The news networks are consumed with the violence upon our culture. The “woke” generation seeks to undermine that which is godly. At times It is so discouraging! The psalmist not only sees it but he turns his understanding to seek God’s help. He believed God would hear and respond. Do we?

God, shelter me, protect me, give me eyes to see the traps these wicked have laid out; pay attention to my plea and be my deliverer, do not let the wicked’s plans succeed.

Do we pray that way when we see the wicked seemingly succeed?

Do we believe that the Lord defends and He vindicates?

Do we truly believe He delivers?

How much power is in your prayer?
