A Promise Made is a Promise Kept
Joshua 17 The five daughters of Zelophehad find their way into the council again to remind Joshua that Moses made them a promise of land as their inheritance because they had no male to stand for them. These women who were not only beautiful but wise with strength of character. They set out to remind the leaders of a promise Moses had made. The question was will the leaders fulfill that promise? So Joshua gave them land among their uncles just as Moses had commanded.
What can we learn from these five gals? First, if you want something bad enough, you have to be willing to place your stake in the ground, and they were. These gals were bold and yet humble, and the leaders listened. There is a spiritual principle in this story. God as our Heavenly Father bestows gifts which come down from heaven. His gifts do not change, just the timing. James reminds us that if we are deficient in wisdom, go and be bold before the Father. [James 1:5] The author of Hebrews tells us that we can confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace whenever we need help. [Heb 4:16]
Remember, a promise made is only as good as a promise kept.
