Venting our frustrations
Psalm 79 Ever felt frustrated and wonder when God is going to take care of this evil? This is not new, the psalmist felt the same. Listen to his words: How long will this go on? Will you stay angry forever? [Ps 79:5].And again in vs 6 he vents his frustration at God’s persistent patience. He counsels God: ‘Pour out your anger on the nations that do not acknowledge you, on the kingdoms that do not pray to you.’ [Ps 79:6] In our vernacular, he is saying, what are you waiting for? Will the pot tell the potter what to do with the clay?
Yes, when we see the evil abounding in our world we fail to realize that God’s plan and His ways are higher than ours. [Is 55:8].We only see the underside of the tapestry with its knots and threads that make no sense, but if we reverse it, we see the picture that these mixed up strands are making.
We fail to see that God’s patience outweighs ours and His plan is higher and more superior to ours. He desires that all are saved, not just a few. Today as you encounter the evils of mankind and the mixed up threads of your tapestry, consider this question God might ask you: “Or do you have contempt for the wealth of his kindness, forbearance, and patience, and yet do not know that God’s kindness leads you to repentance?” [Rom 2:4],
