“The Gift that Keeps on Giving”
Exodus 36 to 38 That phrase was coined in the early ’20s to sell Victor Radios. But, in reality, chapter 36 shows us the true gift that keeps on giving. The people gave willingly to the ministry’s work, which would keep on giving back to the people in their worship. They gave out of the abundance they had carried with them since the Exodus from Egypt. The hearts of the people willingly gave to the work of God with whatever they had brought with them. Amazingly, even though they had given their gold to Aaron to build the golden calf, their gold, silver, and other gifts did not diminish. What do we have in store that we can give to the work of the ministry?
Bezalel and Oholiab were gifted artisans, the scriptures say. Bezalel might have been one of the Israelite foremen on the Pharaoh’s projects. [Ex 5:10]Or we wonder if he had been trained in the arts of golden jewelry or sculptures. Oholiab, whose name fittingly means “the father’s tent,” was a willing attendant to work with Bezalel. Bezalel, a Judahite, and Oholiab, a Danite, were skilled to direct the building project. They were a team that God had chosen. [Ex 31:2; 35:30] Where has God reached out, called you into the work of the ministry, and will you join Him in the work? Perhaps you don’t see yourself as a Bezalel or a Oholiab, but only that you see yourself as a doorkeeper in the house of the Lord.[Ps 84:10] God can use your talents wherever He has chosen. All He asks is for a willing heart.
