Sheep need a Shepherd
Ezekiel 34 The prophet Ezekiel paints a vivid picture of the shepherds of Israel. They were false, self-indulgent, and selfish. Ezekiel reminds them that God sees and He will judge.
From Psalm 23, we learn that the good shepherd cares for his flock. He knows what is best for them so He takes them to green pastures and lets them drink from the still waters because stirred water frightens them.
Centuries later, Jesus called Himself the Good Shepherd. He saw his ‘flock” scattered with no shepherd. He wanted to gather them like a hen gathers her chicks but instead; the pious Pharisees would not accept Him as the Good Shepherd. They sought to kill him, and they did. Jesus pronounced judgment on them and reminded them that they would have repented long ago if they had seen the same miracles that Chorazin saw. [Matt 11:21] God sees and He will judge.
Today, God’s sheep are wandering and need a Good Shepherd. Which Shepherd are you following?
