Resurrection News
Matt 28 While Matthew centers his news and revelation of Jesus’ resurrection, the guard’s story about this event centers their news on the bribery and lies of the religious leaders. It clearly shows us the intent and purpose of these men who were given the rights and privileges of the sacred Torah. They knew that to bribe was a sin before God, yet overlooked it based not on truth but on a lie. They knew that to lie is one of the sins that God hates: ”There are six things that the Lord hates, even seven things that are an abomination to him, haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,” [Prov 6]
God will have the last word and it is this: when he reveals truth, we are to take that truth and share it with the world. We are to be discerning and truth tellers about what we know about Christ: He is not here, He is risen just as He said. The world would have us be silent, but how can we be silent about this more astonishing news? Go can share with those who know not.
