Psalm 65 Sin and Forgiveness

Do you allow the enemy of your soul to remind you of your sins or do you remind yourself of God’s grace and saving forgiveness? The psalmist wrote: “Our record of sins overwhelms me, but you forgive our acts of rebellion.” [Ps 65:3]

One of the tools of the enemy is that he reminds us of our sins so we may rehearse them and be discouraged, but God reminds us that even in our sins, He is ready to forgive. Sin can, as the psalmist says, overwhelm us and drag us down to the depths of the sea. We flounder there like Jonah until we rehearse this verse as he did. God is ready to forgive and cleanse us so we can serve Him with joy and thanksgiving.

As we begin this new week, memorize that verse and carry it with you when the enemy comes knocking. Tell him that the Savior of your soul has forgiven your sins and they are now in the depths of the sea never to return.
