But God…

Eph 2 Paul continues to exhort the Ephesians in their walk with the Lord and begins by saying…”But God, being rich in mercy because of his great love with which he loved us, even though we were dead in offenses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you are saved!”[Eph 2:4-5]But, God….out of His loving kindness and grace chose us before the foundation of the world and because of His great love. Interesting! Remember what John wrote: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” [john 3:16] 

But God loved us and sent His Son that we might be recipients of His grace and love. We who were dead’s in our sins, He has made alive. He has sealed us with the Holy Spirit just as in olden times we used wax to seal a letter. Once sealed it can only be opened by the recipient and that recipient is Jesus Christ! 

Today stop and consider, But God and treasure that thought. You are now alive and protected from the evil one. You are sealed for all eternity. One day you will leave your earthly abode and be “opened” in heaven so your new life is revealed. Until then, produce fruit that remains so that the world can see and know you are no longer aliens but now children of the loving God.
