10.22.24. The Gospel!

1 John 1 Gospel Purpose

As the elderly apostle that walked and lived with the Lord and had survived the persecution that Rome was leveling upon the first century believers. He now shares his heart with the churches that have been established: We “proclaim to you: what was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and our hands have touched (concerning the word of life.” 

What was it that he proclaimed but the gospel message of light and hope. When received, the gospel transforms and changes the heart and mind of any man. John says, once you walked in darkness devoid of the love of God, but now upon receiving the message,  you are transformed into a message of light and hope for any who will hear and respond. 

John’s message was simple and pointed. Every man is a sinner but there is hope: if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous, forgiving us our sins and cleansing us from all unrighteousness. 

Have you confessed your sin to the Lord and seen Him transform your heart and mind? If not then you are still walking in the darkness, but you can come out of the darkness into light. Are you willing?
