You have questions? I have answers!
James 4 James now asks the church: “Where do the conflicts and where do the quarrels among you come from? Is it not from this, from your passions that battle inside you? “ [James 4:1-2]
He notes that the church has many of the behaviors that are destructive and are the same behaviors of those of the world around them. This should not be! Instead, James counsels that the church do several things to avoid these behaviors; first, observe: you are asking God wrongly because you really only want that which is selfishness. This should not be!
Instead, James says “So submit to God. But resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and make your hearts pure, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn, and weep. Turn your laughter into mourning and your joy into despair. Humble yourselves before the Lord.” [James 4:7-10]
So you see beloveds, it all begins with self examination and then seeking the Lord’s will not your own. So how are you doing today with all of this counsel?
