Wise or Foolish?

Proverbs 18 Detecting the Fool

Jesus explained to the disciples about words: “What defiles a person is not what goes into the mouth; it is what comes out of the mouth that defiles a person.” [Matt 15:11] Proverbs 18 echoes that same thought: “The lips of a fool enter into strife, and his mouth invites a flogging. The mouth of a fool is his ruin, and his lips are a snare for his life.“ [Prov 18:6-7]

The Lesson being; choose your words carefully and do not presume that others will see or understand what you are saying. You just might prove yourself to be fool rather than wise. Again from Proverbs: “The one who associates with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.” [Proverbs 13:20] So it is not just choosing the right words, but you also need to choose wisely your companions who listen to your words.
