The Gospel & The Resurrection
1Cor 15 There is an old hymn titled “Victory in Jesus” which tells the gospel story. It tells us that the greatest gift that God has given to us. Paul reminded the Corinthians that it was Jesus in the flesh that lived, died, and was resurrected on the third day according to the scriptures. Without the resurrection, he was just a man like any of us, but because He was raised death has been extinguished. “The sting of death is sin, but thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ! [1Cor 15:57]
It is because of His death and His resurrection that one day we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in the moment, in the blink of an eye, at the last trumpet. This mortality will put on immortality for we are now being sewn into the beautiful tapestry of the image of the one who gave His life. It is because of this we can sing with the choirs of heaven, Victory in Jesus!
