1 Chron 6 Lineage 

Imagine yourself reading the list of those who assisted in the early group of those King David used in their spiritual exercises for the people . As we read through this list we find that although Samuel himself was a prophet and he was faithful, his sons were not so. “But his sons did not follow his ways. Instead, they made money dishonestly, accepted bribes, and perverted justice.” [1 Samuel 7:2] However, his grandson Heman was a musician and David appointed him to assist with the choirs and music. What a wonder to come across this piece of evidence to show us that as generations come and go, God reminds us that people are responsible for their own faith, no someone else’s faith.  Heman may have had a great grandfather that was a prophet, but Heman was not called to that station. He may have had a father Joel that was not a prophet either after his father. Instead, Heman was given the gift of music. 

Don’t think and make excuses for your past family’s behavior and choices. You are responsible for your own. Heman is listed among the faithful servants of the Temple. You can be as well.
