1 Chron 4:9 The Prayer of Jabez

In this chapter out of all the sons named, one name stands out,not for who he was but because of his prayer:

Jabez was more respected than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, for she said, “I experienced pain when I gave birth to him.”  Jabez called out to the God of Israel, “If only you would greatly bless me and expand my territory. May your hand be with me! Keep me from harm so I might not endure pain.” God answered his prayer.

Jabez’s mother birthed him in pain. We don’t know the circumstances or how Jabez was after his birth. But, this one thing we do know: he was more respected than the rest of the boys of his family AND he was a faithful prayer warrior.  He had a personal relationship with God and he went to him to ask for His blessing. 

No matter the circumstances of your birth or where you are now, trust God to bless you and use you as Jabez did.
