Do not falter…

God's palm hold syou

Hebrews 1 to 6 “Take Heart!”

The Hebrews author warns us to beware of the enemy’s tactics, one of which is to waver in our belief. He reminds us that he who wavers is like the sea waves. “For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord.” [James1:6] Instead, recall that Jesus is superior; He is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His nature; He holds all in the palm of His hand just by His power” [Heb 1:3] just as Isaiah reminds us: “Behold, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands;” [Isa 49:16] if God can do the impossible, that is to hold the entire world in the palm of His hand. Why do we think He cannot hold us in that same palm? What reassurance to any who are faltering!

Thus, the author gently chides us: Heb 2:1 “do not drift away,” Heb 3:2 “Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.” Again, Heb 3:15, “harden not your hearts.” And again, Heb 4:1, beware of coming short of the promises. Remember this truth: “this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.” [Acts 1:11]

Are you faltering today? Take heart and ponder these same six chapters to encourage your heart.
